I think the name of the comic is Asaekkiga by Yang Young-Soon, but I could be wrong…

UPDATE:  Fairly-wrong.  That’s what I get for believing the internet.  The name of the strip is Asaekkiga Chu-ri-ning by Yang Young Soon Lee, sang-shin & Kook, joong-rok.

Who’s Afraid of Santa Claus?

Well, if it’s a mall Santa it would have to be Lindsey.

About once a year I see an article about terrified children sitting on Santa’s lap. The screaming faces, the understanding Santa, and the timeless pictures sum up the emotions perfectly. I’m not feeling like posting an image to this post, so you’ll just have to check out what all of the fun is yourself.

Men Who Look Like Old Lesbians

John DenverLindsey and I sometimes get into odd arguments, and one of them is that a lot of older women look like men. It’s my opinion that there are a lot of women out there that look more like Ed Asner in their prime than they would wish. Lindsey heartily disagrees.

What does this have to do with men who look like old lesbians? Well…it reminded me of this argument. Maybe I should start the “Older Women Who Look Like Men” blog.

Fashion in Helsinki

Fashionista PunkHEL LOOKS is selected street fashion from Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The pictures are taken in the streets and clubs of Helsinki from July 2005 onwards.”

Some of the fashions posted are just freaking crazy. They range from innocent girls wearing traditional garbs to people that look like comic book heroes (late 80’s, not Golden Age). It’s an interesting look into northern European fashion and culture while remaining distant enough to appreciate it. It’s also freaking hilarious.

The site says that you cannot use photographs of the people without their permission, but a punk wouldn’t care. If this one did care, then they are not a punk and therefore would out themselves.

Milk Crates

Some MF\'ing Milk Crates

About two years ago when I was moving out of the apartment on Oakridge street, I picked up about 24 milk crates from the coffee shop to pack my books into. The coffee shop owners didn’t mind too much, considering their supplier had neglected to pick up the crates for over six months. Sure, 24 crates was a bit overkill, but I had no clue how many books could be stored in a single crate. Apparently quite a few can be stored in a single milk crate. Thankfully Chris (my roommate at the time) had some books too, along with about 300+ assorted cables and random computer accessories. Needless to say that they were put to good use in that move. Gmail IMAP…Finally

Gmail LogoAfter waiting a couple of weeks, IMAP has finally been enabled on my Gmail account. I have been waiting for IMAP since Google enabled POP3 access on their web mail client. It’s great to see progress on Google’s part. This will allow someone to use Gmail like a local e-mail client, similar to Outlook or Mail.app. I know this is a bit of a nerdy post, but being able to keep your e-mails archived on another server, being able to see them with a usable webmail site, and be able to write complicated e-mails with my computers e-mail client…yeah that’s just cool.

Lego Zombie

Lego ZombieI have always loved Lego. Period. The smallest pieces, which conveniently fit on the tip of your canine teeth, were always my favorite. They were also good for making little robots and adding accent to larger sets. The small bricks always made the look, while the big ones only made up the bulk of it. Honestly I never liked the big Lego blocks. I liked the large base plates with the hills and terrain dug into them, sure, but never the large bricks. Okay, maybe that large power brick was cool, but it was too big to do anything with.

When I saw this giant Lego zombie, I knew I had finally found a perfect match between small design and large scale. It’s size was awe inspiring while keeping it’s proportions exact. The detail was that of a smaller mini-fig (as the Lego people are called) but not overdone. It was exactly how a Lego zombie would look like.

Cool, yet cheesy.

Too bad they are not for sale…yet.
